Care of Your Temporary Bridge

»To keep your temporary in place, avoid sticky foods as gum and caramels, and hard food. If possible, try to eat on the other side of your mouth. Continue to brush and floss, but pull the floss out from the side, rather than the top of the teeth. This will prevent pulling off the temporary. IF the temporary comes off, call us so it can be re-cemented. It is important the temporary stays in place so the permanent bridge fits correctly.

»Avoid eating until the numbness is gone, usually within 2-4 hours. This prevents accidentally biting your lip, tongue, or cheek.

»There may be sensitivity to heat, cold and pressure in the first week after each visit-this is normal.

»Your gums may be sore after the anesthetic wears off. Rinsing with warm salt water three times per day helps reduce discomfort. (1/2 tsp salt in 1 cup warm water).

»We will call you the next business day to be sure all is well. However, call us immediately if you have questions or concerns.

Care of Your  Permanent Bridge

We will instruct you on the use of a floss threader to aid you in flossing under the replacement tooth in your permanent bridge.  There are no eating restrictions.

We put YOU first, so in rare instances your permanent bridge fails within the first five years of placement, we will replace the bridge at no charge to you. Your bridge was placed on _________________ (we have recorded this in your patient record). This agreement is only valid if you have regular recommended cleanings and checkups at our office.
