esday, May 29 is Composting Day. In the tradition of reuse and recycle, composting takes our food scraps and puts them to good use. Currently in the U.S. we only compost or recycle three percent of our food waste, according to Earth 911. If you don’t think that’s a lot, consider that “Americans waste 40 percent of the food we grow and raise, ” according to Jonathan Bloom. Make it a family project for the summer and see what beautiful plants and veggies grow as a result of your composting.
