Dr. Finney may refer you to any of the  dental specialists listed below if there is a  situation requiring advanced dental expertise. By referring you to a specialist,  Dr. Finney is showing a strong commitment to helping you achieve the best dental health possible.  We will maintain close communication to assure you of the best dental care possible. 

What is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon?

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dentists specializing in surgery of the mouth, face and jaw. In addition to dental school they receive four to seven years of hospital-based surgical and medical training.  This prepares them to perform all types of surgery of  the bones and soft tissues of the face, mouth and neck. 

What is a Periodontist?

Periodontists are dentists specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. If Dr. Finney has determined that your gums require special attention, he will refer you to a periodontist.

What is an Endodontist?

Endodontist are dentists  specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of abscessed teeth (teeth with internal infections).  If Dr. Finney refers you to an endodonist, it is for treatment that is  designed to prevent the  loss of your teeth.

What is a Pediatric Dentist or Pedodontist?

A pediatric dentist has additional training focusing on the management and treatment of your  child's developing teeth.  A pedodontist also has training in  child behavior, physical growth and development, and the special needs of children's dentistry.  

What is an Orthodontist?

Orthodontists are dentists who specialize in teeth alignment and jaw problems. Using braces, retainers, and other devices, an orthodontist will help straighten your or your child's teeth and correct the alignment of teeth.
