Dr. Mark Finney of New Brighton has been providing the best dental care possible since 1983.  He is very dedicated to his patients and continuously keeps abreast of the newest and most innovative dental treatments.
While much of Dr. Finney's dental practice is cutting edge,  his staff of six dental professionals will testify that his care is truly old-fashioned.  Tammy O., one of Dr. Finney's assistants, says "Dr. Finney really cares about his patients individually.  He is very calm and very good.  He is honest with his patients and that is what keeps them coming back.  People really feel that this is a family setting, not an assembly line."
What makes his office continue to be so highly rated by his patients?
A very comfortable feeling and ambience.  The whole office has been recently renovated and is very bright and welcoming.  Enjoy the freshly baked cookies and the fabulous coffee. Settle into one of the massagers in the dental chairs.

extensively studied the effects of diabetes on oral health and often lectures on the topic to both the lay public and professionals.  Patients with diabetes are at greater risk of gum disease and infections may be more difficult to control.
The staff at Dr. Finney's office is also very involved in the community.  Several of the hygienists visit local schools and the office has participated in Give Kids a Smile Day, which Dr. Finney describes as, "a wild day, but it's fun"
Dr. Finney also volunteers with Donated Dental Services and homeward Bound, care programs for mentally or physically disabled individuals.  "It can be tough work, but it's very enjoyable," Dr. Finney says.  One especially rewarding experience was filling a crown on a severely handicapped girl. Dr. Finney was encouraged to simply pull the tooth, but instead was able to fit a crown for her in one visit.  While it was difficult, he says, "I'd rather give her a crown, than have
He uses only digital Xrays.  These use about 80% less radiation than regular Xrays. He feels that it is important to provide the best and safest dental care possible.
No latex in the office.  "Many people have allergies to latex so when we remodeled, we made sure everything in the office is completely latex free," says Dr. Finney.  A particular interest of Dr. Finney's is the effect diabetes has on teeth.  He has
One visit crowns.  Dr. Finney can prepare a tooth for a crown, design it with a computer ( you can watch your crown being milled out of tooth-colored porcelain), and have it fitted, all in one visit.
No metal or amalgam crowns and no standard Xrays. Dr. Finney offers crowns and fillings that look like natural teeth.
her deal with the consequences of a missing tooth for the rest of her life.
"It all comes down to seeing problems and helping where we can.  We never try to make decisions for patients--we simply give them the options, then do our best to help with whatever they decide."
